Gyrokinesis sessions include a variety of exercises that are repeated either in sitting, standing, kneeling or lying; working from a stool or a mat. The Gyrotonic Expansion System (the tower and bench unit) is not used for Gyrokinesis exercises.
There is an emphasis on continuity through the exercises so that the movements flow with a gentle rhythm. Postural strength improves by continuous activity of the trunk muscles. The spine is gently mobilised through a series of arching, curling and spiralling movements. Rhythm evolves as familiarity with the exercises improves and this effectively enables the whole body to become stronger and more flexible.
Understanding and self awareness is encouraged so that individuals only move within their comfort zone. Both fun and energetic; the whole body will benefit!
