Gyrotonic training can be enjoyed simply for overall health or to aid further recovery from an injury or illness. It offers functional movement retraining, recognised as the way forward in rehabilitation. The varied and dynamic exercises effectively benefit the whole body.
The exercises focus on alignment and gentle strengthening which, by focusing on quality of movement rather than quantity, gradually lead to better flexibility, posture and muscle tone. Stiffness and pain can reduce whilst co-ordination and balance will improve. Individuals gain a deeper understanding and awareness of how they move. Body shape will change for the better.
The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® is used in one to one Gyrotonic sessions. To find out more see the 'Equipment' page.
Gyrokinesis training describes exercises practised using a stool or mat. These exercises are ideal for a small group class.
Initially used in the dance world; the benefit of Gyrotonic training is becoming increasingly valued by many worldwide. This includes sports people and health professionals.
Joanna Parker teaches one to one Gyrotonic training at her studio in East Grinstead, West Sussex. Halfway between London and Brighton; the town is close to the borders of East Sussex, Kent and Surrey. Small group Gyrokinesis classes are also available locally.
